The Crigler-Najjar Associaton

Our Purpose and Objectives

The Crigler-Najjar Association was established as a support group for and by patients and families with Crigler-Najjar Syndrome (Types I and II). Anyone is welcome to participate and assist in the activities of the association.

The objectives of The Crigler-Najjar Association are:

  • To raise funds to strive to find a cure for this disorder. In finding a cure for this disorder our hope and expectation is that other liver enzyme difficiency related metabolic disorders can also be cured by similiar medical methods.
  • To provide support, understanding and compassion to the children, young adults and their families of this extremely rare medical disorder so that they may know they are not alone.
  • To provide phototherapy equipment and medical supplies to families that can not otherwise afford the medicines, light fixtures and bulbs for necessary and life saving phototherapy.
  • To assist and to provide support to our medical and scientific advisory board as they work towards optimization of current treatment modalities that have a more immediate potential of affecting the quality of life of patients world-wide at the present time, and regretfully so, for some time to come until a cure is found.
  • To increase awareness and understanding of this medical condition and to disseminate information to the general medical community of advancements to manage and live with this disorder until a cure is found.
